khalil Mechantaf
- Khalil is a bilingual, civil and common law qualified lawyer, with license to practice law in major business hubs and jurisdictions. He founded Mechantaf Law, a practice dedicated to streamlining legal services to businesses across key sectors in the corporate, commercial, infrastructure, energy, environment and dispute resolution. Khalil is also a lecturer in law on oil and gas, real estate and international arbitration. Prior to that, Khalil has spent several years practicing in the international arbitration group, commercial and construction practices of Baker Mckenzie LLP and Kennedys Law LLP, in which he has advised and represented several Fortune 250 companies on some of the largest and challenging commercial transactions and disputes in the banking, corporate, international commercial, utilities, oil and gas and infrastructure projects. Khalil has published significantly in peer reviewed journals on comparative law and regulations and international human rights law. He has been a Visiting Professional at the International Criminal Court, working in the office of the prosecutor on the case in Darfur, leading to the issuance of several arrest warrants for crimes against humanity and war crimes. He has been a board member of a several human rights organizations, investigating cases of torture and inhuman treatment under international human rights law instruments. Khalil has a client centric approach for which he comes recommended in the Legal 500 (2022 to 2024), under both construction and dispute resolution practice areas. He has significant experience in advising on standard form and bespoke contracts and been involved in matters governed by over 10 different legal systems, under civil and common laws.
